General Information

Membership Cards: If you forget your membership card, you will be required to pay the appropriate guest fee (adult or child) for the day. Go IMMEDIATELY to the office, one of the office personnel will verify that your pass has not been used that day and refund your charges in full. (Persons who gained entrance with a guest ticket will be issued a replacement coupon.) You must appear in person on the day you forgot your card.  No refunds will be made beyond the day on which the card was forgotten.

Escrow Agreement: In 1975 the Club instituted a system by which members might reserve their accommodations for the following season or be placed on a waiting list for a change.  This is the only waiting list the Club keeps.  We require a $100.00 deposit to be rendered upon submitting the Escrow Agreement by November 15th.   You may request and obtain a refund if you cancel prior to February 1st of the following year.  Members executing the agreement receive a $10.00  script ticket which is good towards the purchase of guest ticket book.

Script Tickets:  Script  tickets that are issued by the Club to those executing the Escrow Agreement may be towards the purchase of guest tickets.  Script Tickets are printed within the year of validity thereon.

Guest Procedures:  The Club has made a strong effort to ensure that only members and authorized guests are allowed entry to the property. Members may bring guests at any time providing that the appropriate guest fee is paid.  The guest fees are promulgated annually in the springtime and members are able to purchase books of guest tickets at a reduced rate. Members who have not made prior arrangements to purchase reduced price guest books may pay cash at the gate and bring the guest stub to the office when purchasing a book of tickets.  These cash stubs will be honored at their cash value against the purchase price of a guest book, however the appropriate number of guest entry tickets will be removed from the book at the time of purchase.  There are two different guest fees during the season, one for adults (13 years of age and up) and one for children (12 years of age or younger).  No rain checks are issued.  Gate charges can be used towards the purchase of guest books only on the day they were issued.  Previous days guest charges will not be acceptable.

Cabana personnel:  Cabana personnel are hired to make your summer more comfortable and enjoyable.  Generally, they are hired to keep the exterior of your accommodations neat and clean, to remove trash and garbage, to open your accommodation when and as directed and to set out furniture etc. in the location which you indicate.  Additionally, members may request other services from these employees bearing in mind that these boys and girls work on the basis of tips.  Normally a tip of $30.00 per week per family is considered adequate.  However, if your requirements for the cabin or cabana personnel are extraordinary, an amount in addition to his base would seem appropriate.  It should also be borne in mind that on many occasions because of inclement weather or other plans on the part of members, they are not at the club on a day which would normally render their gratuity.  Members should remember that they should make up for any weeks missed on the next occasion for tipping.

Electricity:  The Club imposes no additional charge on cabana renters for the electricity that they use.  Each cabana is equipped with a 15 ampere circuit breaker which provides for use of appliances somewhere in excess of 1.725 watts.  However, it should be borne in mind that sometimes refrigerators which are in use at the Club draw a substantial amount of current when the compressor motor starts and this may cause the circuit breaker to blow when other appliances are in use and the refrigerator starts.  The Club will be glad to test your refrigerator for current load should you have trouble with constant circuit breaker overload.  However, we are not in a position to attempt repairs on any kind on defective appliances.

ANY ILLEGAL OR DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL WIRING WILL BE REMOVED.

Deck Extensions and Over-hangs: All deck extensions and over-hangs must be approved by management and constructed by CLUB PERSONNEL ONLY. Any  extension or over-hang constructed without permission or by someone other than Club Personnel will be removed!

Lifeguards/First Aid:  Lifeguards are hired by the Club for you and your children’s protection.  Additional to their basic lifesaving duty, they are trained in First-Aid procedures and one guard is always at the First-Aid station (located at the pool by the low diving board) for your assistance.

Swimming: The head Lifeguard has absolute discretion in matters of rules for swimming in the pool or ocean.  Additionally, it is the Head Lifeguard’s duty to determine whether or not conditions permit swimming or surfing in the ocean at any time.  It is imperative that members and their children obey the instructions of lifeguards at all times. Please keep off any & all Lifeguard stands day or night.

Parking Lot: Parking is available to members on a first come, first served basis.  There are no reserved spaces.  Members are encouraged to park as closely as possible to the adjacent car to avoid wasting space.  Instructions of parking lot attendees must be obeyed.

Interior of Cabanas and Lockers: The Club rents it’s accommodations on an as-is basis.  Interior decoration of any kind including painting is the responsibility of the member.  Sinks are not provided or maintained by the club.  Personal belongings are stored at the member’s sole risk.

Off Season: Any items left outside the accommodations at the end of the season will be disposed of.The Club provides a No. 22 Master Lock for accommodations in the off season. Members should provide their own combo lock for the season for greater security.  Should you wish our cabana or cabin personnel to be able to gain entrance to your accommodation while you are not at the club, you will have to make arrangements to provide the cabana boy/girl with a duplicate key or a copy of the combination.  Private locks may not be left on the accommodations after September 15th as the plumbers must enter the accommodations in the Fall and the Spring to turn the water off and on.

Members’ Governing and Advisory Board: is made up of members of the club like yourself that have been elected by the membership in a general election held every September of each year.  These men and women come from all over the Club and there should be at least one in a cabana or locker near your own.  The Members’ Governing and Advisory Board acts as a conduit between the membership as a whole and the management when dealing with problems of mutual concern.  Additionally, they help out when there is a general Club function, such as the July 4th races or the Labor Day swim meet.  Probably their most important function is dealing with problems which arise between member that are not covered by the rules and regulations. Should you, as a concerned member, have a comment, suggestion or complaint about members, you may write to the Members’ Governing committee c/o the Club and your letter will be referred to the them for action.

Accidents: while we try very hard to prevent conditions that allow accidents to occur, sometimes they do.  There is available, at most times, a qualified trained first aid person who will help in any emergency.  There is a first aid room at the pool as well as first aid supplies at the office and in the Day Camp.

Should you have an accident, whether or not it requires first aid, please make sure to come to the office and report it on the same day the incident occurred.

Tern/ Piping Plover Nesting Area:  Certain Areas within and adjacent to the Club grounds have been declared bird nesting areas by the town of Hempstead.  It is against the law to disturb these species in any way.  Fines of up to $10,000 for disturbing and $50,000 plus a year in jail for killing endangered species are presently on the books.  Please be aware and make your children aware of these areas and their inhabitants and notify the office if you encounter an injured or sick bird.

Picnic Tables:  Picnic tables are set out by the Club for the convenience and enjoyment of all.  Picnic tables may not be monopolized by any one group of individuals nor may they be removed from the locations where they are set up.

Free Guest Days:  Each year, certain days in July and August which do not conflict with July 4th will be designated as Free Guest Days. On those days, members may use Free Guest Day Passes issued to  their accommodation for free entry to the club.
